New Delhi, July 21: India’s textile sector has received a major boost with the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme attracting investments of ₹8,118 crore and generating over 33,400 employment opportunities, the Centre said.

The scheme has played a key role in encouraging investments in high-value textile segments, including man-made fibre (MMF) textiles and technical textiles, while supporting the expansion of domestic manufacturing capacity.

The government stated that the initiative is aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Indian textile companies, promoting innovation, and creating a strong ecosystem for sustainable growth in the sector.

Through the PLI scheme, eligible companies are being encouraged to scale up production, adopt advanced technologies, and strengthen their presence in both domestic and international markets.

The growth in investment and employment highlights the positive impact of targeted policy measures on the textile industry, which remains one of India’s largest employment-generating sectors.

The Centre said continued efforts will focus on boosting manufacturing, increasing exports, and strengthening India’s position as a global textile and apparel hub.
