Guwahati, Aug 20: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to building a developed and prosperous Assam as the BJP-led NDA government completed 100 days of its third consecutive term in the state.

Marking the completion of the first 100 days, the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s continued focus on development, public welfare and improving opportunities for people across Assam.

The government’s priorities include strengthening infrastructure, expanding livelihood opportunities, improving welfare delivery and promoting economic growth. Women’s empowerment, education and healthcare also remain important areas of focus as the administration works towards more inclusive development.

Sarma has emphasised the need to create greater opportunities for women and girls, with government initiatives aimed at supporting women’s economic independence and ensuring better access to education, healthcare and other essential services.

The completion of 100 days comes after the NDA secured a decisive mandate in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections. The BJP won 82 seats, while its allies, the Asom Gana Parishad and Bodoland People’s Front, secured 10 seats each, giving the alliance a total of 102 seats in the 126-member Assembly.

The government is now looking to build on the mandate by accelerating development works and strengthening the delivery of welfare programmes. The focus is on translating its broader development vision into tangible improvements in infrastructure, employment, governance and the lives of ordinary citizens.

The Chief Minister has reiterated that the vision of a “Viksit Assam” will remain central to the government’s next phase, with development and public welfare being pursued alongside efforts to create a stronger and more economically vibrant state.

As the NDA government moves beyond its first 100 days, the administration is expected to maintain its focus on inclusive growth and faster implementation of development and welfare initiatives across Assam.
