2024 marked a new height for the Indian tourism industry with a US $199.6 billion GDP contribution, with India witnessing a rise in outbound tourism and inbound tourism as we secured 39th position in the World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Development Index (2024). We are proud to see how the Indian travel industry has grown over the years and with the Indian government launching initiatives like PRASHAD, Dekho Apna Desh, Incredible India and the E-visa scheme, we are getting closer towards digitisation, exploring hidden retreats and boosting the growth of the Industry. Furthermore, as the government allocated Rs 2,479 Crore to the tourism industry for FY25, out infrastructure growth and travel experiences have gone up.
Looking ahead, we expect to see a new era being for the country with an increased involvement in global travel, better protection and development of the country’s heritage, and an even advanced infrastructure and high-tech digital assets.
Being a part of the industry, we celebrate this National Tourism Day with a vision to further empower our industry’s growth and encourage citizens to partake as we walk closer to sustainability, digitisation, economic growth, and job creation.
