Kolkata, May 04: As LPG demand continues to expand across India, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is reinforcing a critical pillar behind its nationwide operationsdiscipline in distribution. Backed by a robust vigilance and enforcement framework, the company is ensuring that every cylinder reaches the intended consumer, with transparency, accountability, and trust at the core.
 
Between April 1 and May 2, 2026HPCL has delivered 404 lakh LPG cylinders nationwide, demonstrating the scale and consistency of its supply network. On May 2 alone, the company delivered 12.3 lakh cylinders, reflecting sustained demand and operational agility.
 
Scale Anchored in Strong Systems
HPCL’s nationwide energy operations continue to perform at scale:
  • 13,39,039 KL of Motor Spirit (MS) and 22,89,489 KL of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) supplied between April 1 and May 2
  • On May 2, 44,588 KL of MS and 70,011 KL of HSD were recorded
  • 2,41,169 tankers dispatched nationwide, including 11,306 tankers on May 2, ensuring seamless fuel movement
Further strengthening efficiency, 99.5% of LPG bookings are now made online, enabling real-time processing, tracking, and faster delivery cycles.
 
Vigilance Driving Integrity
As distribution volumes rise, HPCL has significantly intensified vigilance to curb malpractices and protect consumer interests.
 
Between March 14 and May 2, 2026, the company has:
  • Conducted 6,424 inspections across its LPG distribution network
  • Initiated 177 actions against distributors, including 34 suspensions
  • Carried out 664 raids across regions
  • Registered 44 FIRs
  • Seized 4,155 LPG cylinders to prevent diversion and misuse
These actions underscore HPCL’s zero-tolerance approach towards irregularities and its commitment to maintaining strict compliance with operational and safety standards.
 
Ensuring Fair Access in a Changing Market
The company’s vigilance framework becomes even more critical as LPG consumption patterns evolve.
HPCL recorded:
  • 8,27,039 units of 5 kg cylinders sold, including 30,359 units on May 2
  • 27,298 units of 2 kg cylinders sold, including 143 units on May 2
These smaller cylinders are increasingly serving migrant populations, small businesses, and urban consumers, making equitable distribution and monitoring essential.
