ITC Royal Bengal, Kolkata, has been awarded the prestigious LEED Zero Water certification, verified by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) in April 2026. This milestone places the luxury hotel among an exclusive group of Hotels globally to have achieved net zero water consumption, as recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Zero program — one of the most respected sustainability frameworks in the world.

LEED Zero is a rigorous complement to the established LEED framework, designed to verify that a building has successfully achieved net zero goals across energy, carbon, water, or waste. Earning the LEED Zero Water designation means ITC Royal Bengal has demonstrated a complete balance between water consumed and water returned — a remarkable achievement for a full-service luxury hotel operating at scale in one of India’s most vibrant and bustling cities. Notably, ITC Sonar, Kolkata’s other iconic ITC Hotel, has also earned the LEED Zero Water certification in 2023 reflecting the group’s consistent commitment to environmental stewardship across its portfolio.
